Mobility & IoT
Soracom

The developer's IoT connectivity platform: published pay as you go rates, self serve onboarding, and a 2026 Gartner Leader placement to back it.
Best for: product and developer teams
Soracom brought cloud economics to a market of PDF price lists: sign up with a credit card, order SIMs, route device data into your cloud through built in integrations, and pay published pay as you go rates until scale justifies a committed plan. That self serve transparency is close to unique among serious providers, and the platform behind it grew up serving product teams, so APIs come first and portals second. The corporate story is solid in ways that matter for a long lived deployment: it listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange in 2024, remains majority owned by the Japanese carrier group that backed it early, and entered the Leaders quadrant of Gartner's 2026 managed IoT connectivity evaluation, its first appearance there. The fit boundary is buying style rather than capability. Enterprises that want account teams, quarterly reviews, and a managed service wrapper will find other entries on our list more natural; teams that build product and want connectivity to behave like the rest of their cloud stack tend to stop looking after the proof of concept.

Why use an advisor
- One conversation instead of five vendor sales processes.
- You buy directly from the provider you choose, at the same or better pricing: providers quote sharper when they know the whole market is being compared.
- Advice that includes "don't buy this," because we have no stake in which provider wins.
- Coverage of the whole market, including providers you've never heard of.
- Provider claims checked against what advisors see across live quotes, not against brochures.
