AT&T Wireless

The carrier direct benchmark for US IoT: twelve straight years a Gartner Leader, with the deepest certified device ecosystem in the market.
Best for: large US device deployments
AT&T is the default first call for a large, primarily domestic IoT deployment that wants the network operator itself on the other side of the contract. The ingredients are hard to match: nationwide networks including low power LTE-M for sensor class devices, the mature Control Center management platform, a certified device catalog measured in the thousands, and a twelve year run in the Leaders quadrant of Gartner's evaluation of managed IoT connectivity. Connected vehicle programs have chosen it more than any other network, which says what the largest, most demanding buyers concluded. The tradeoffs are structural to any tier one carrier: the sharpest pricing rewards volume commitments, the buying experience runs through account teams rather than self service, and inside the US your coverage map is its coverage map, which is precisely the single network exposure the multi carrier specialists exist to remove. Volume buyers with mostly domestic fleets will find the economics and the ecosystem compelling; global device makers and small fleets are better served elsewhere on our list.

Why use an advisor
- One conversation instead of five vendor sales processes.
- You buy directly from the provider you choose, at the same or better pricing: providers quote sharper when they know the whole market is being compared.
- Advice that includes "don't buy this," because we have no stake in which provider wins.
- Coverage of the whole market, including providers you've never heard of.
- Provider claims checked against what advisors see across live quotes, not against brochures.
