Equipment placed in an Equinix facility can reach your cloud provider, your carrier, or your trading counterparty over a private cross connect at latency and reliability the public internet cannot match, and its software defined interconnection fabric extends that reach to services in other metros without new circuits. That ecosystem is why network engineers treat Equinix as the default answer for anything interconnection shaped, and why the premium holds. The honest tradeoffs: you pay for the neighborhood whether or not you use it, so workloads that just need power and cooling are cheaper almost anywhere else; space in flagship metros is tight and quoted with lead times; and cross connect fees accumulate into a meaningful line item at scale. Pricing runs per cabinet plus metered power with interconnection billed monthly per connection, premium over the market everywhere, and quote based, which makes pricing the same requirement across the whole market the only way to know what the adjacency is really costing.
